Understanding Your Role
What each role can do in Cadence
Cadence uses a role-based system where your role determines what actions you can take.
The Roles
| Role | What You Do |
|---|---|
| Logger (Medical Records) | Enter visit units from caregiver reports |
| Billing | Submit claims and mark visits as billed |
| Remittance | Verify payments and mark visits as paid |
| Schedules | Manage patient records and schedules |
| Admin | Full access to everything + user management |
| Viewer | Read-only access for management reporting |
What This Means in Practice
Each role sees the same calendar but has different action buttons:
- Loggers see the "Log Units" form and "Undo Logged" button and can mark visits as "Missed"
- Billing sees "Mark as Billed" and "Undo Billed" buttons
- Remittance sees "Mark as Paid", "Partial Payment", "Overpaid" and "Undo Paid" buttons
- Schedules sees patient and schedule edit buttons
Admin can perform any action from any role. This is useful for training and troubleshooting.
Temporary Roles
Your admin may grant you temporary access to additional roles. When you have temp roles:
- You'll see a role switcher button in the bottom-right corner
- Click it to toggle between your primary role and any temporary ones
- An amber dot appears when you're acting under a temporary role
The Role Simulator (Admin Only)
Admins can switch between any role for testing and support using the role simulator FAB in the bottom-right corner. This doesn't change your account — it just changes what you see and can do.
