How Billing Codes Work in Cadence
Each patient schedule is tied to a specific billing code. The code determines:
- Which schedule applies
- How units appear in the calendar header
- What gets submitted in claims
Multi-Code Patients
Some patients have schedules for multiple billing codes (e.g., both G0156 and T1019). In this case:
- The calendar header shows separate badge pills for each code
- The calendar footer shows scheduled times prefixed by code (e.g., "G0156: 8a-12p")
- The log form includes a billing code dropdown
- Each code is tracked independently through the billing lifecycle
- A patient might have G0156 units billed while T1019 units are still logged
RNA (T1001) — Special Case
RNA visits are unique:
- Always 0 units
- Represent a nursing assessment, not a regular care visit
- Added as an additional line item on a day that already has a visit
- Display as "RNA" in calendar cells instead of a unit count
For more information, see: Logger Guide: RNA Visits & Special Entries
SNV (T1002, G0299, T1003, G0300) — As-Needed Visits
SNV (Skilled Nurse Visit) codes are for as-needed skilled nursing services:
- Scheduled per patient but not tied to a weekly schedule — visits can happen any day
- Do not appear in calendar headers (since there's no fixed day)
- Do appear in the patient info panel under Billing Codes
- Require an active SNV schedule, added like any other — the schedule form recognises an SNV billing code as you type it
- Logged through the "+ Add Visit" button in the day detail panel, with units pre-filled from the schedule

County-Based Rates
Some payors have billing rates that vary by the patient's county of residence. When a binder has county-based rates configured, the billing code field becomes a dropdown limited to that payor's codes, and the patient info panel displays the rate next to each code.
