Quick Patient Search

Jump to any patient in any binder with a keyboard shortcut

From anywhere in the app, you can instantly search for and jump to any patient — across all binders — without navigating back to the binder list.

Press Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows) from any page. A search pop-up will appear in the center of the screen with the cursor ready for you to type.

Press Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows) to open the quick search window.

Searching for a Patient

Start typing a patient's last name or first name. Results appear automatically after two characters. Each result shows:

  • Patient name — with matching letters highlighted in bold
  • Binder name — shown underneath so you know which payor they belong to
  • Coverage note — when that binder's schedules don't cover today, e.g. Discharged Mar 14, 2026

The search matches from the beginning of the name. For example, typing "Da" finds "Davis" but not "Adams".

Patients in More Than One Binder

When someone has switched insurance they'll have a record in each binder, so the same name can appear more than once. The coverage note tells you which one to work in:

What you seeWhat it means
Binder name on its ownSchedules cover today — this is the current binder
Discharged Mar 14, 2026Coverage in that binder ended on that date
Resumes Aug 1, 2026Coverage ended, but a later schedule picks back up
Starts Aug 1, 2026Coverage hasn't begun yet
No schedulesThat record has no schedules on file

The current binder is always listed first, so when a name appears twice the top row is the one to open.

You can use either your keyboard or mouse:

When you press Cmd+K again, your previous search is still there — already highlighted so you can either:

  • Start typing to replace it with a new search
  • Press Delete to clear it
  • Press Esc to close without searching

Quick Search is available on every page in the app. It's the fastest way to jump between patients when you know who you're looking for.
